We are pleased to introduce the Center for Astronomy + Space Exploration

CASE will be a new regional destination where guests of all ages can engage with the universe through dynamic planetarium shows, interactive Explorer galleries, live programs, and memorable shared experiences unlike anything currently available in Connecticut.

 

Building on the legacy of the Gengras Planetarium, CASE will carry forward its tradition of public engagement through a bold new center for Earth and space science.

 

Astronomy will provide the foundation, while space exploration makes even the most distant realms feel within human reach. From the worlds of our solar system to the farthest regions of the cosmos, CASE will encourage guests to ask questions, participate, and deepen their understanding of what lies beyond.

 

At the heart of the facility will be a reimagined planetarium that combines immersive shows, state-of-the-art technology, and the powerful sense of connection created by gathering beneath the dome. Beyond the planetarium, themed Explorer galleries, learning resources, guest amenities, and gathering spaces will carry the visit from day into evening.

 

More than a new planetarium, CASE will be a cultural and educational landmark for Connecticut—a place where families, students, educators, lifelong learners, and guests from throughout the region can come together to experience what lies beyond.

Explorer workshops for all ages

 

For the inquisitive, we will offer a variety of after-school, evening, and weekend science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) sessions and events geared toward kids and their families. Here is just a sample.

Robotics

Participants will determine the use, design, construction, operation, and performance, of robotic vehicles intended for space exploration.

Rocket science

Launching model rockets will enable participants to experience the challenges of aerodynamics and the balancing act between weight, fuel, and thrust.

Into the lens

Viewing the night sky through a telescope, participants will gain a deeper understanding of our place in the universe and its wonders.
